On March 5. The Chabot Women’s Softball team took on San Mateo Thursday afternoon. Going into the game the Gladiators were 1-13 on the season. A struggling season so far for Chabot and the struggles continued into this game.

The Gladiators gave up 5 runs in the first inning, with very little mistakes (errors) that cost them to be down early into the game. Luckily Chabot was able to respond with two runs in the bottom of the first with a double by Jaqueline Escobar Sanchez to bring home Kailey Yahya, a fly out to advance Jaqueline to third and bring her home a ground out to SS by Adri Monroe.

Again, the struggles got even worse for the Gladiators, giving up 11 runs in the second inning, with 10 hits and more errors from Chabot. This winded up being the deciding factor to the loss to San Mateo. As they continued on the game scoring more runs. Gladiators got a run back in the bottom of the third but too little too late as they were down 22-3.

Finally in the 4th innings, San Mateo’s run streak kept on coming, scoring another 5 runs, bringing them to a 27-3 lead, which then led to the game concluding in the 5th inning. A crushing defeat for the Gladiators, moving them to 1-14 on the season.

Chabot has a double header on March 7, against Porterville, hoping to redeem themselves and start a win streak.
