On Sunday Sept 28 it was announced that Puerto Rican Artist Bad Bunny will be performing at the Superbowl Halftime Show in 2026. This announcement was made after comments from Bad Bunny said that he’s skipping the U.S. in world tours in fear of ICE agents being outside the venue. Last years Halftime show was preformed by the Pulitzer price winner Kendrick Lamar where Lamar made the show a national message to America. We wonder if Bad Bunny intends to use his platform for similar purposes?

As per-usual there’s growing outrage on Twitter (currently X) about the artist performing. Majority of the complaints that it should have been an “American” artist, overlooking the fact that Puerto Rico is American territory.

Some users on Twitter suggested that an alternate Halftime Show should be performed and watched instead of the official halftime replacing Bad Bunny with a more “American” artist.

Cole Wagner provide his response stating; “He’s already American because he’s from Puerto Rico right? Yeah, so that makes him as American as any of us and on the topic of his performance, Bad Bunny is very talented and while I don’t listen to much of his music I can predict that the performance will be very successful.” Me personally i want him to be more “woke” than Kendrick Lamar to be a voice to those who need it right now.
